Game Text Translations: ======================= All of the game text (messages, scrolling cutscenes, etc) was created by Malcolm Smith. It can be freely distributed in the context of the offical Oblivion distribution files only. TRANSLATIONS of the original game text can be freely distributed on web sites, without the rest of Oblivion, as long as: - The data file "oblvtext" (.89y and .9xy) is included - A completed version of data/text/distribTemplate.txt is included. - The work is presented truthfully, as a translation of an Oblivion component. - NONE of the source files (textScroll, textGen, etc) may be included. Here's a little more info: - choices[], options[], difficulties[]: All menu options. These can be up to 20 characters in length, and the wording can be changed slightly if needed ("Play Game!"->"Play!"/"Start", etc) - gameKeyFuncs[] - must stay 15 characters like they are. But the wording can also be adapted... "Press Button"->"Button", "Switch Weapon"->"Weapon", etc. - resetWarn[]: each line 26 characters or less. But the blank line right below warning can be filled with text if needed. (Despite the notes in array_data.txt, a new line cannot really be added or it would go off the TI89 screen.) -gamestrings[] +PAUSED can be 14 chars longer, Press Any Key can be 6 chars longer, Press ON to turn calc off can be 10 chars longer. ===STEP ONE=== In info/, translate: array_data.txt (pay attention to notes) creditscroll.txt (only necessary parts, no names, etc) level1pre.txt level2pre.txt level3pre.txt level11pre.txt level12pre.txt level14pre.txt level19post.txt level20post.txt level24pre.txt level25pre.txt level36pre.txt level38post.txt story.txt ==STEP TWO== Run _run.bat. Like it notes: -If you don't have Dev-Cpp with it set up for command-line compilation, you will have to build textgen_main.c manually. -If you build manually, be sure to run textgen.exe afterwards. That's it! Oblvtext .89y and .9xy should be made in the binary directories. If you can't compile for some reason, just send me all the translated text files and I can make a data file from it. (m@malcolm-s.net) ================================================== DISTRIBUTION ================================================== If you would like, you can release the translated data files by yourself. See the notes at the top of this document. If you have a translation, please email me so I can add it to my site. Another good place to add it would be ticalc.org - please place it in the /pub/89/asm/games/levels/misc "TI-89 ASSEMBLY GAME LEVELS (MISC)" folder. Use the following for the title: Oblivion v1.0 - Translation - [language] or Oblivion v1.0 - Translation - [language] (Automatic) if the translation was an automatic (machine) translation.
