I. What is SAS?
|
|
Super Alien Strike (or SAS for short) is a fast paced
side-scrolling shoot 'em up for TI-89. You will take command of a futuristic
ship which is designed to kick the nasty alien butt. Only you have the
skill to pilot that ship and repell the aliens from our home planet of
Earth. The game has multiple weapons which are (will) be upgraded via
collecting power-ups from destroyed enemy ships, and lots of different
enemy ships. All graphics was drawn by hand and just for your (and our
:)) enjoyment!

II. SAS Story
|
|
It is year 3041; Earth's resources have long since depleted
and a cloud of chaos has fallen upon the planet... but Earth hasn't died
yet! A transgallactic alien carrier ship has dispensed countless drones
to terminate all remaining life on the dying planet and establish a nuclear
waste plant. You are the only one who has the will to fight the alien
force in hope to save what's left of our homeworld... ~SAS

III. SAS Installation
|
|
System Requirments:
~20 kb of free RAM to run the game (this might increase as we add more features to SAS ) HW2 TI-89 with with AMS 2.x (theoretically, it should run on HW1 89's too, but it hasn't been tested on any since none of us own one) So far, the game does not work properly on 92's and key binds aren't set up for 92's either. However, after the game is pretty much complete, there will be a 92 port (actually a menu setting that let's you choose your calculator model). Installation: 1. unpack the SAS.89z and SAS.89y files into a folder on your computer 2. use any linking software to send these files to your calculator 3. archive the files to save space and prevent data loss from unpredictable crashes (yep, crashes happen and it don't have to be caused by SAS) 4. go to the VAR-LINK and select SAS (with ASM as a file type) 5. run the program |

IX. SAS Q&A
|
|
Q: Why is SAS going @ like 4 FPS on my calculator? A: SAS uses a lot of processor time and requires a lot of power, hence you can't play it with old batteries. Please consider changing them. Q: I'm running SAS on VTI, but why is it too light? A: That's because SAS changes contrast for the fade effect and VTI doen't handle it correctly. Play it on a real calc instead. If you still want to play it on VTI, you'll need to turn the contrast up a bit. If you have questions that are not answered in this section, please post them in our site's forum and we'll be glad to answer them. |
