Wordbook V1.0 (2002/06/28) Wordbook Help for CASIO PV Unit Information: http://www.pocket-viewer.com/ E-mail : webmaster@pocket-viewer.com --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What's Wordbook? Wordbook is a vocabulary collection of seven languages, every language has 983 regularly used words. The seven languages are English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese and Japanese. Viewing any word, you can view all the seven language of it. It's very convenient and interesting for learning multi-languages. The words of every language are sorted according to this language's alphabet. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- How to use with Wordbook? Wordbook has total three screens: Search Screen, List Screen and Browse Screen. When you enter this program, you will first be in the Search Screen. You must select one of the seven languages first, and type the search string, the search result will be shown in the List Screen. In the list screen, you can click a word to enter the Browse Screen to view the seven languages of it. 1.Search Screen In the Search Screen, you must select a language what you want to search first. After click on the language select button to select language from the popup menu. Then you can input the search string. When you click the [Exe] button, it will search in the language you selected for all the words that match the search string you inputted and display them in the List Screen. You can use wildcards '*' and '?' to specify the search regulation. '*' means any number of continuous letters and '?' means only one letter. They can be combined with all the other letters to form a search string. For example: "b*" represents all the words start with 'b' no matter how long it is. "b?" represents all the word that start with 'b' and it must be only two letters. "b*?" represents all the word that start with 'b' and it must be at least two letters. "*b" represents all the words that end with 'b' no matter how long it is. "?b" represents all the words that end with 'b' and it must be only two letters. "?*b" represents all the words that end with 'b' and it must be at least two letters. "b???*" represents all the words that start with 'b' and its length must be at least 4 letters. "*b*" represents all the words that has a letter 'b' at any position of it no matter how long it is. So you can use the letter '?' to specify the position of a letter, and use '*' not to specify the position of a letter. For example: "*b?a*" means that must has a letter between 'b' and 'a', and "*b*a*" means that have any letters between 'b' and 'a' even including no letter. You can use any combination of letters with any number of '?' or '*', but the length of the search string must not over 12. The search string is not case sensitive, so you needn't to consider the case of the letters. For example: The search result of "KYU" is same as "kyu". You can click [Clr] to clear the inputted search string. Click in the search string will move the input curser position, or you can select multi-letters to delete. When you have finished input the search letters, you can click [Exe] button to do a search. If there is no matching word found and there is any '*' or '?' in the search string, a message "Data item not found!" will be displayed. For example: Search language: English Search string: Arb* Search result: Data item not found! If there are matching words more than one, only those words will be displayed and the first word will be highlighted. For example: Search language: English Search string: Acc* Search result: accelerator accessaries account account/ account number If there is only one matching word found, all seven languages of this word will be displayed in the Browse Screen directly. For example: Search language: English Search string: Account Search result: Deutsch: Rechnung(f) English: account Espanol: Cuenta(f) Francais: Caisse(f) Italiano: Conto(m) Japanese: kaikei Portuguese: Conta(f) Especially, you can click [Exe] button without any search letter to display all the words in this language. 2. List Screen: The right side of the screen is the scroll bar. You can click the top and bottom arrow to change your selection in the List Screen. Click them will move to the previous or next word. If the selected word is the first or the last word on the screen, the screen will scroll up or down and highlight it. You also can click on the meshed space of the scroll bar to rapidly move to a word in the list. You can also move the touch pen to highlight word. When you click and move the touch pen, the word that you move on will be highlighted, and the previous word is unselected. If you move the pen outside the list area, the List Screen will scroll up or down one by one while you continue moving the pen. When a word is highlighted, it means that it is selected. Click it again will bring you to the Browse Screen, which will display the seven language of this word. Action key can be used conveniently when you select and browse a word. The lever up and lever down are same as scroll bar up and down arrows, lever push is same as click on the highlighted word. If you click the language select button and select another language, all words in List Screen will be translated to this language in the same order. 3. Browse Screen: In Browse Screen, you can use [List] button to return to the List Screen. Use the up and down button on the top to move within the list words. If there is no word next to this word in the list, the down button will be grayed and become unusable; if there is no word before this word in the list, the up button will be grayed and can become unusable. If the screen is not enough to display all the seven words, you can use the scroll bar at right to display it. If it is at the top or bottom of this screen, click the arrow of the scroll bar will move to next or previous word. If it is the first or last word in List Screen, the up or the down arrow of the scroll bar will be grayed and can't be used. The lever up and lever down are same as scroll bar up and down arrows at right when scroll within the word, and same as up and down button on the top when scroll within this window.
