You have just downloaded the enhanced version of Metroid II: Evolution, originally released back in July 2006 on omnimaga.org and August 2006 on ticalc.org. Metroid II: Evolution is a sequel to the game that introduced the world of Samus Aran to TI calculators, which can be found here http://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/383/38359.html . It features many items from the original metroid like the morph ball, the bombs, the wave beam, etc, fake walls, destroyable blocks, full of secret, awesome graphics, many traps, animations, several areas to explore (over 250 maps) and many things that will make your adrenaline increase to insane proportions while playing (lava that keep rising while you attempt to make your way to the top of the room by jumping on platforms, difficult bosses, traps and many more. Recommended for TI-83+SE, 84+ and 84+SE! **************************************** *Improvements from version 1.0x to 2.00* **************************************** So WHAT'S NEW in this enhanced version of Metroid II: Evolution? Well, first, there is an improvement made in the game engine. Pressing ALPHA now makes Samus switch direction instead of having to walk one step back to do so, thus, you no longer have to jump or end up accidentally falling when you want to shoot something while standing on a one block wide platform. Second improvement is graphical: The HUD (showing energy, energy tanks and items found) no longer disappears when you enter through a hatch, it now stays on the screen, like the original Metroid games. So that's all? Nothing else new that justify that version number increase? Well, the most major improvement in the game is all the new secret maps and energy tanks that were added in the game, as well as a secret item. Just explore everywhere and you will find them. Some may be obvious, but the largest new room set added in the game is actually the least obvious, thus, hardest one to find, and it is where 4 of the new energy tanks (two of which are very hard to get) are located. I hope you find them because you may find an interesting surprise here. ;) ************ *Installing* ************ NOTE: THIS GAME IS NOT RECOMMENDED FOR THE REGULAR TI-83+ (black model), ALTHOUGH IT WILL WORK THE GAME SPEED MIGHT BE TOO SLOW FOR THIS MODEL. -To install the game you need to send all programs located in the Met_Archive folder to your calculator's ARCHIVE memory. -Afterward send all programs located in the Met_Ram folder to the calculator RAM. -Once done go in the APPS menu and select xLIB. When viewing xLIB title screen press [1] and [3] to enable it and quit. -After that go in the PRGM menu, select A and press enter twice to run the game. -The first time you run the game it will ask for a password. The password is 79438. Type it and press enter. This is to make sure you read the above installing instructions so I don't get 800 e-mails asking why the game doesn't work properly. It will never ask that password again the next time you run the game so don't worry. If you need further help on general calculator linking to PC refer to TI-Connect or whatever linking software you are using documentation if you need help sending files to your calculator. IMPORTANT NOTE: For some reasons the game will not work in PindurTI. All files in the archive folder will give a Transmission error. Also it will not work fine in Flash Debugger either because this emulator doesn't support multiple keypresses and key detection is very slow. Instead, use TilEm or a real calculator. Another note is that the save files for Metroid II: Evolution ENHANCED doesn't work with Metroid II: Evolution or vice versa. ******* *Story* ******* AFTER PLANET CODE Z WAS DESTROYED TO ANNIHILATE THE REMAINING METROIDS, ONE METROID SURVIVED. HOWEVER NO ONE REALIZED THAT THE RADIATIONS COULD HAVE MADE IT MUTATE IN SOMETHING THAT COULD WIPE OUT THE ENTIRE HUMAN RACE IF IT MADE ITS WAY TO THE EARTH. THE NEW SPECIMEN KNOWN AS METROID OMEGA ONLY SURVIVE NEAR LIFE FORM. SEEING THE NEW SPECIMEN HEAD TOWARD S5G8 COMET, SAMUS QUESTIONS HERSELF: "COULD THIS COMET HIDE LIFE FORM? AND WHAT KIND?" AS SHE APPROACHES THE SURFACE, THE FIRST THING SHE NOTICES IS TRACES OF ADVANCED CIVILIZATION, WHICH IS NONE OTHER THAN CHOZO STRUCTURES. WHILE HUNTING DOWN METROID OMEGA, SAMUS WILL HAVE TO PIERCE THROUGH THE SECRET OF THOSE RUINS... ********* *Playing* ********* When the title screen appears you can choose to start a new game, continue a saved game or quit. You can save your game at your airship or in the save rooms (on the things that look like the top of your ship). When you start a new game you are prompted to choose a difficulty level. Until you finish the entire game only Easy and Normal are available. Beating the entire game in normal mode unlocks Hard mode and a side quest in the game can unlock an even harder mode as well. If you continue a game you restart from the last save point. You keep all your health, items and progress. During the game you will encounter enemies and bosses, as well as traps like spikes, doors, fake walls/floor, lava, acid, etc. When hitting enemies or going into lava or walking on spikes you lose energy. When energy reaches 0 it's game over. If you need to restore your energy go to a save room or try to find an energy tank item (which increases max energy by 100) to restore it to maximum. If you ever played Metroid for the Nintendo you should get used to the game very quickly. =Game controls= -Up arrow: jump, go back from morph ball -Down: Go into morph ball (if you have it) -Left/right: move around -2nd: Shoot, enter save point, use elevators, grab items, use bombs (when in a morph ball). -ALPHA: switch Samus direction ******* *Items* ******* Energy tank: increase max energy by 100. Beam gun: main weapon in the game. Can destroy enemies and some blocks Morph ball: Allow you to go in small areas Samus cannot reach normally Bombs: Can destroy small paths that can only be reached in morph ball or blocks that can't be reached with gun projectiles Varia Suit: Allow you to go in lava (not acid) without losing energy Long beam: Increase beam gun shooting range (can shoot across the entire screen instead of just 3 blocks further) Wave beam: Can shoot through walls. Double damages caused to enemies ???????: Reduce all damage by half or more ********* *Credits* ********* =Ideas= Fred Sparks Kévin Ouellet =Title screen= Denix Buri Kévin Ouellet =Graphics and sprites= Kévin Ouellet Fred Sparks Denix Buri Athlor Necro Georges Wellman =xLIB APP= Patrick Prendergast =Rigview= Paul Marks ******************* *Special thanks to* ******************* -Patrick Prendergast, Kalan Scallan, all the Omnimaga and HRP staff, everyone in #omnimaga at the then irc://unitedti.org network and everyone I might have forgot for their support -Nintendo for creating those awesome Metroid games ************* *Disclaimers* ************* -We will not be held responsible for damage caused to your calc. -If you decide to upload this game to your website download section or use the source code, you MUST mention all authors. -No animals were harmed during the making of this game.
