Hello

The TI68K series calculators are still advertised on the official Texas Instruments education website.

https://education.ti.com/en/products/ca ... 9-titanium

But they only sell accessories, So they are already discontinued ?, if so, I think Texas should announce it.

Although I would like for the farewell that they offered an payment official emulator PC/ANDROID/IOS (In the official SDK they had a ready emulator), I think that there would be many addicts and enthusiasts

Do you have some source, STV ?
Because they were still sold in shops for back to school 2016. Although they might have been old stocks...

@ Compsystems : I added a question mark on your title because nothing is sure about production of these calcs.

@ STV : You should NEVER say things like that without being SURE and having sources to prove it !

However, it is a fact that :
  • TI68k calcs are no longer supported on new versions of TI-Connect (since version 5.0)
  • TI68k calcs are no longer advertised on papers adressed to teachers to equip themselves or their classes
  • The last OS version for these calcs is almost 12 years old !!
  • TI68k calcs (TI-89 Titanium, namely, and rarely Voyage 200) can still be found quite easily in stores !!

9th question of viewtopic.php?f=49&t=14065

"Support" is indeed in a grey area for the 68k. They're still getting sold because for some reasons, enough people still buy them, even though they're priced absurdly (to encourage getting an Nspire instead). But as said, there's no more development on it on TI's side.

This would be like Sennheiser discontinuing the HD600.

Basically saying "OK, we can cajole you into getting something worse by making it appear shiny with means of retroilluminated screen, but as this thing is better and cheaper, it could possible interfere, so we stop selling it."

Reputation will of course suffer on the long term. And people aren't stupid. It doesn't take much research to figure out how much better a deal an used ti-89 is.

They should have upgraded the features in their products according to the requirements of consumers.

The TI-92 and TI-Voyage 200 are discontinued.
The TI-89 Titanium isn't. It is still being produced and sold, at a high price (for what it is).
