It's a 84+CE OS.
So won't work on a 83PCE anyway.

Tried the EVT2 apps on OS 5.0.0.0059 with CEmu.
(I directly overwrote the 5.0.0.0059 apps in ROM with the EVT2 ones)

Inequalz2 has no 0x8120 version field, and is much too small to do anything.
The displayed version string is garbage.
The app just exits after the splash screen, leaving the system in an unstable state.

PlySmlt2 is much bigger, but still has no 0x8120 version field.
The displayed version string is empty.
Unlike the production versions which directly shows a menu, this PlySmlt2 shows a splash screen.
The system then crashes and reboots after the splash screen.

The fact that the "5.0.0.0024" 84+CE was actually a K-ELG2-DVT (despite the low version) makes me think they restarted the version numbers at 5.0.0.0 for ELG2.

I have an idea to unbrick the calculator. It involves modifying the file of The oldest 83 PCE K-DVT OS, to change the type to 84+CE. I think this boot code is such an early version that it only accepts OSes with 84+CE type header, Even on 83PCE. Because the boot code is a development version, it might not verify the signature of the OS. In this case, you could try to edit the fields in the header to change the calculator model, and ask stj2002 to see what happens when you install it.
