gpsp and ndless 3.6

Unread postby JonConnor84 » 16 Oct 2015, 00:36

I have an nspire CX CAS. I recently upgraded my OS and ndless to 3.6.

My gbc, nes and doom emulators all work fine. I can't get gpsp to run since the upgrade. No more FF V :(

Is there a solution that does not involve reverting to 3.1?

(Couple of other questions)

Even when running 3.1 I could not get any roms over 6 - 7 megs to work on gpsp (perhaps a hardware limitation?)

This site, tiplanet.org, shows an English flag up top. Even when I click it, most of the site remains in French (including files to download). Is there a way to fix that?

nsNandMgr may let you remove the downgrade protection, but I'll let critor reply.

Out of curiosity, what's not working on gpsp with 3.6? It is just quitting directly?
(It might just need to be recompiled with the newer SDK, actually)

It may be a RAM issue indeed (not enough memory free ?)

In fact, labels, menus, etc. will get translated, but for forum content, only the multilingual content will appear in English. By that I mean articles etc. that we have ourselves translated (so, big news, mostly). The rest will be only available in whichever language it was written in, and in this case French. But I guess Google Translate can help a bit.

After clicking a rom (which worked in 3.1) the exact error is "This document type is not supported"

If I try running the gpsp_launcher, I can select a rom but then it just immediately returns to the normal nspire doc menu (after pressing enter to select the rom).

Note: I am sure that prior to installing ndless 3.6 I checked the preconfigured ndless 3.6 config file to make sure that gpsp is associated with gba files. I cannot read cfg files once they are on the calc. :( I tried ntxt but it only reads txt files and it automatically associates txt files with itself, rather than me manually doing it. My point is, on windows you can open cfg files with txtedit, there must be a way to associate cfg files on the nspire to be read with ntxt.

pico (for Genesis) and pocket SNES both work fine too.

Everything but gpSP. What does one do?

Here is the final on the subject.

I have added all of the file types and emu associations into the ndless.cfg.

I never had to run itself before, I could just click on a gbc.zip and it started fine. I was unaware of how the menu system worked in gpsp (if you run itself). This is why when I tried running gpsp itself before, I wasn't able to get gpsp working. I am now able to get gpsp running.

Sadly, since the 3.6 update I can no longer just click on the various associated files for snes, nes, gen, or gba files. I can only do that with gbc, gb and txt files. To be fair, I never had the snes, nes or gen emus in 3.1 so I don't know if the file associations worked for those types in 3.1.

Summary -> All listed rom types run now, I just have to start the various emu programs rather than just opening the roms. :/

Thanks for your input! :D
