I tested many cases :
- with or without nSwitchOS
- with different OSes >3.6 (almost tried all of them)
- with or without ndless/startup items (holding [Esc] during startup or removing them)
- with different versions of ControlX (4.4.4 et 4.4.5-beta)

Have you tested without ndless at all?

Because if something is apparently crashing on OS startup (and not removing the OS like a protection check), it's likely to be Ndless.

I was pretty sure I had tried... and you made me doubt.
I think I have tried to install some OSes for which there is no Ndless at all, following critor's advice. I think it was 4.0.0 or 4.3.

I'll try again to make it clear, and I'll tell you.

I'll try also just renaming "ndless" folder.

I confirm that ndless is not the (only) cause of my problem : CAS OS 4.0.0.235 doesn't complete installation with ControlX 4.4.5 and without nSwitchOS.
(I changed for this version of ControlX because it's the only one which takes care of versions between 3.6 and 4.4).

That is quite intriguing, it will definitely be very informative once you get that serial cable, but meanwhile, one more thing to try: Do development os's, CM, or region changes work, and did you experience any irregularities in your installation of ControlX, and were you previously using nLaunchy or somthing similar berfore you installed controlX?

I had spent hours testing all model/version combinaisons, so I'm quite surprised.
Of course I could have missed something, but you're getting many different problems on your calculator...
So it's probably something else which is interferring.

I've just checked quickly on an emulated CX CAS :
- ControlX 4.4.5
- default boot options = 8
- boots on Boot2 4.0.3.49
- install OS 4.0.0.235 non-CAS through USB at the Boot2 install OS screen

Behaves as expected :
non-CAS 4.0.0 OS is accepted, is crashing on its 1st boot (installation), and then is being launched successfully starting from its 2nd boot.
Of course, any attempt to calculate something is triggering a reboot.

Your problem could still be related to Ndless, since ControlX supports OS 4.0.0 for Ndless installation.

@Bisam Regarding your OS 4.0.0, did you wait for the 2nd boot to complete ?

Could you install a working Ndless-able OS, launch nsPartManagic, and list me the partitions offsets/sizes it's reporting ? (or take a picture, as you wish).
I'll try to reproduce your exact setup.

And by the way, what's the full ControlX bottom status line ?

First I tried installing CAS OS 4.4 having renamed "ndless" to "ndless-useless"... and it failed as the other tries.
