Re: [Tuto] [EN/FR] Install/Installer nBoot + ControlX (+Linu
hi critor,
i love your work on the nspire! I have a question I haven't been able to easily find an answer to so I thought I'd post it here. I currently have the ti Nspire CX rev-B, OS nspire CX 4.4.0532, boot1 3.0.0.99, boot2 4.0.3.49 with ControlX 4.4.0 and nboot with ndless. I am wondering how I could go about being able to dual boot my CX with CAS? I've seen a recent Reddit/YouTube easy to follow guide in actually fully installing CAS, overwriting my CX OS. I saw you mention nSwitchOS could be used, but would it allow dual boot with CX to CAS and vice versa? would I lose data using it every time it switched if so ? I'm not fully sure how it works, and I haven't yet installed it so I thought I'd ask these questions first.

Re: [Tuto] [EN/FR] Install/Installer nBoot + ControlX (+Linu
Hi.
Only one OS can be installed at a time.
nSwitchOS is a way of quickly installing a compatible OS (without needing to trigger the ControlX/maintenance menu).
But it won't really help you here, since you've got to manually switch the CAS/non-CAS flag in the ControlX menu to be able to boot a CAS/non-CAS OS.
So far, the installed OS type cannot be auto-detected at the Boot1/nBoot/ControlX level.

you really do respond fast. many thanks then. at least I know I can place it on my calculator whenever I wish. is it possible we won't have to manually change the flag later in an update for ControlX? I'm not sure if that could be possible.

Re: [Tuto] [EN/FR] Install/Installer nBoot + ControlX (+Linu
You're welcome.
I won't say it's impossible, but it's not easy as at the Boot1/nBoot/ControlX level you have no filesystem access.
Due to several restrictions in this context, the ControlX code size should not increase too much...

Re: [Tuto] [EN/FR] Install/Installer nBoot + ControlX (+Linu
nSwitchOS has finally been updated with OS resources extraction :
archives_voir.php?id=877138
Switch your TI-Nspire OS easily whenever you want without needing to connect the calculator anymore.
When installing forbidden OSes (older versions or versions targeting another TI-Nspire model), no need to access the maintenance menu to remove the current OS anymore.
For forbidden OSes, you'll still need :
- a boot helper for versions targeting another TI-Nspire model (Nlaunch*, nBoot+ControlX)
- to reset the minOS manually for older versions if you're not using Nlaunch* (nsNandMgr/BtMg tools, or ControlX boot menu)
