TI-Nspire/XXXXXXXXXXX ClickPad DVT1.2/DVT2.0 prototypes have different ASIC flags, and won't launch 3.6+ OSes without the help of an appropriate boot loader.
The only one supporting 3.6+ OSes is Nlaunch CXM 2.5.

Yes, you are right, he answered me it was a black and white one, not Color. Weird... I thought it was the color one. My bad.

EDIT: Indeed was a B/W one, I found out a boot2 1.4 I never used in my CX in my laptop, probably that's the boot2 for nlaunch in clickpad

Good evening,
I have two questions about nboot and controlx.
The first one is my question: With nboot and controlx i can install linux on my ti-nspire, right? What can i do with linux and controlx on my calculotor in addition?

The Second one is my friend question.
I have a friend who attend the university, he has a ti-nspire cx with a cas OS installed with nLaunchy. During exams he can brings the calculator he wants, but he doesn' want have problems and, so, he would like to delete the inscription CAS from the home page of the calculator, is it possibile?
Thank you very much by me and my friend Marco

Hi.

Yes you can.
You can't do much if you're looking for ready to use tools, and the latest Linux public build is 2 years and a half old : https://tiplanet.org/nspire_linux_build ... ernel.html
From a user point of view, the Nspire OS is better.
You can do many if you're ok to develop the tools yourself.

No need to replace Nlaunch*.
Both nBoot+ControlX and Nlaunch* can run modified TI-Nspire OS, and for example TI-Nspire CAS OS which wouldn't show CAS on the home page.
But none of them does alter this behaviour.
So you'll need to modify the OS yourselves to fix this, and then provide the modified OS to either nBoot+ControlX or Nlaunch*.

Hi,
So it's possible run modified OS with Nlaunch or nboot+controlx, which is the better system?
But we have a problem: we have no idea of how to modify the OS.

In my opinion nBoot+Controlx is better. Compatible with more recent hardware revisions and OS versions up to 4.5.
(when Nlaunch* only fully supports OSes versions up to 3.2, and partially supports versions 3.6/3.9)

Sorry about the CAS flag, I don't know how to patch it and it doesn't really interest me either.

No, and no one will ever make a tool that does it.
The *only* reason why he would want to do that is to cheat on exams.

Obvious that the only reason is that, and i wrote it.
But, excluding this fact of little importance, which are the real advantages of running an OS modified by myself?
Thanks

That of erasing CAS from the home screen feels a bit cheaty...

On a side note, Critor, I got a new numeric CX from a 2nd hand shop for 50€, the old owner said it had a battery problem (when I removed the battery, it was super inflated...). It has the white back and is a revision S. Comes with boot2 3.9.1 and OS 3.9.1 too. The procedure to install nboot is the same as my revision C? The damn calculator is so light compared to my old one...

Yes, same process.

Black original 800mAh batteries preinstalled in the first TI-Nspire CX revisions are very bad. They tend to inflate after some months, and the autonomy drops very quickly then.

My revision C has a 1200mAh now. But this S one has a battery that looks like a phone battery, no wire connectors, nothing. And it was huge. Probably some factory defect.
